Jonian Coast - Going and Picking Mushrooms

Walking through the luxuriant wood Pantano of Policoro, relict of a plain forest, among rare and age-old trees, it is possible to find, among others, wonderful specimens of Russula, Amanita, Lactarius, Agrocybe, Leccinum, Tricholoma and Verpa, mushrooms which sometimes spread sweet and charming smells in the air and sometimes acrid and pungent smells.

In the Mediterranean maquis and inland woods there are also other appreciated species such as the delicious queen bolete (Boletus aereus), the Caesar's mushroom (Amanita caesarea) and the yellow chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius), together with dozens and dozens of apparently less important species, which can be used to make delicious and fragrant dishes which never fail to enchant and ravish.
