Potenza, Vulture and Melfi Area - Marmo Platano

The Melandro and Marmo Streams Valley includes these villages: Bella, Baragiano, Picerno, Tito, Satriano di Lucania, Sasso di Castalda, Brienza, Sant’Angelo Le Fratte, Savoia di Lucania, Vietri di Potenza, Balvano, Muro Lucano, Castelgrande and Pescopagano.

Melandro and Marmo are two Streams that collect their waters from the Western part of Basilicata. They belong to the hydrographic basin of the Sele River.

In this area are mountains, forests and bare rocks open to the wind.

The internal plains, such as the Tito Plain and the Baragiano Plain, were in the past used for agricultural activities; now they have become industrial areas.

In the Western area there are the Beech Forests of Monte Paratiello that, in the lower section, give their place to beautiful woods of Turkey oaks.
