This village is situated in a valley of the National Park of Pollino. Its origins seem to date back to the Longobard domination. It is generally thought that the name ‘Fardella’ comes from the name of Luigi Sanseverino’s wife, Princess Maria Fardella.
In the centre of this village there are the palace from the XVI century that used to belong to the De Salvio family and also the Main Church, 1703, dedicated to Sant’Antonio da Padova, patron of this village.
Fardella is surrounded by rich woods, such as the Serra Cerrone Wood, the Mesole Wood and the Piano di Molinaro Wood, where, in autumn, it is possible to pick up several types of mushrooms. These woods offer playgrounds for children and beautiful paths for excursions.
Outside the village there is ‘Parco Barbattavio’, a sports centre.
