This village, situated on a hill, was probably built before the year 1000, by the Severini family. In the XII century, it was a fortified centre. Later it was uninhabited until 1516, when some Albanian refugees moved in. Of the Middle Ages only the Castle is left, part of which is still lived in.
In the Church of San Nicola di Bari there are two masterpieces representing the ‘Crocifissione’ and the ‘Annunciazione’, of the XVI century.
Not far from the village, walking along a path, it is possible to reach the place where the remains of the Castle of Monteserico are, remembered because there the Byzantines were defeated by the Normans, in 1041. According to an old legend, in the caves situated under the Castle, some Italian-Greek monks used to live in and they used to reach Genzano through an underground passage.
