Commune in the province of Potenza

The origins of this village date back to the XII century, when the Normans built up a fortress because of its strategic position. After a period of Aragonese domination, the village was owned by several feudal families.

Walking through the village it is possible to see the Main Church of the Assunta, where the portal in stone of 1780 can be admired. Near this Church there is the ‘Belvedere’, from which it is possible to see the valleys and the mountains around. In the Church of the Madonna del Carmine, a canvas of 1611 by Giovanni Battista Serra from Tricarico is kept.

The Castle used to overlook the village, but unfortunately only some ruins of it remain.

Near the village, the ‘Abetina di Laurenzana’ is a perfect place for excursions.
