The origins of this village are rather ancient. In its area some ruins of a Roman settlement dating back to the VI century B.C. were discovered.
In the old centre, which has a mediaeval structure, there is the peculiar ‘Piazza XX Settembre’ (square 20th September), having the shape of a terrace. In its middle there is a cross that used to mark the end of the village.
San Michele’s Church, which has recently been largely renovated, is very interesting.
The village is surrounded by wood and pastures and around it, there are several businesses of breeding sheep and producing cheeses.
The handcraft of wrought iron is also wide spread.
