Some sources state that this village was built on the ruins of the old ‘Polisantria’. Its name seems to come from ‘San Quirico from Konya’, martyr during the persecutions by the Emperor Diocletianus, worshipped by some eastern monks. In the middle of the XVIII century San Chirico was a well developed centre of the textile industry. Inside the village there was a weaving factory for cotton and broom.

In this village there are several important remarkable constructions. Characteristic of this territory is the spring of the Trigello Stream, which disappears in autumn to appear again in spring time, because it flows over karstic land.

At the foot of the Raparo Mountain there are two other springs characterised by sulphurous waters, the Santa Quaranta and the Cortignano, very good for healing skin diseases and rheumatism.
