Commune in the province of Potenza

This village, situated on the boundary that separates Basilicata from Puglia, has very ancient origins. In the XI century it was a Bishop site and later belonged to several lords.

The Church of the Immacolata was built in 1890 in Romanesque style. Its facade is in tuff, with a stone portal and a rose window. Inside it, there is a wooden statue, of the XVIII century.

On a hill, in the middle of a wood, there is the Sanctuary of the ‘Madonna del Bosco’, also called ‘La Gloriosa’. It was built in 1187 by the Benedictines, in Romanesque and Byzantine style, and is the destination for many pilgrims. Its facade has a beautiful stone portal and an octagonal rose window. The Sanctuary has a nave and three aisles.
